It is not really faith until I act on it

“And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”

As I was reading today’s passage, Matthew 14.22-33, verse 28 really stood out to me.  I know that we often give Peter a hard time but what Peter said to the Lord is really interesting.  Here he asks the Lord to command him to come out onto the water.  This tells me that he knew it was possible for him to walk on water if Jesus told him to do it.  He knew that within his own abilities it would be impossible.  Later on we read that Peter became scared and began to sink.  Jesus told him to have stronger faith.  I think what we can apply to our lives is that we need to admit that God is more than capable of handing any issues that we face in our lives.  I know that I believe this, but at times I find myself looking away, or as Peter, begin sinking due to my unbelief.  As our FUSION Fact states, “It is not really faith until I act on it.”  Today, may we act on what we say we believe!
